Obsidian Networks - A History in the making...
Jazapax was first founded in 1969 by Ricard Morrell and Russell Branham in Bolton, and was a small partnership that leased office space to businesses. In 1996 Ricard’s son, Jordi, who had previously worked in I.T with the BBC decided to open his own business. Following the success his father had and through the ambition and drive the BBC had provided him with the Virtual Business Centre was opened.
Jordi began small going to businesses and helping with their internet issues and as time progressed and the customer list expanded the IT department became a well-established company with a whole host of loyal customers and a growing reputation. Thus began the era of technological advances. As computers and broadband became an integral part of day-to-day business as did the need for maintenance and internet services such as servers and broadband connections.
With this new status it required a new image. As a group we decided a new name was needed that suited us best, after days of researching and brainstorming the Virtual Business Centre was renamed Obsidian. The name suited perfectly, a rock that formed when volcanic lava met with water and we felt that it reflected the bond with the personalities in the team. Obsidian has a glassy lustre and is slightly harder than window glass. Though obsidian is typically jet-black in colour, the presence of hematite produces red and brown varieties. Obsidian is often used for gaining clear insight into problems.
This was the first step to Obsidian becoming the company that you are familiar with today........
